Christmas Day,the 25th of December,is the biggest festival节日celebrated in the Christian countries of the world.Although everyone enjoys Christmas Day,it is particularly enjoyed bychildren, who get very excited because of the presents they know they are going to receive.Small children believe that their presents are brought by Father Christmas圣诞老人.Father Christmas is akind of old man who,the children are told, lives at the North Pole.He travels through the sky on a sleigh雪撬 which is pulled by reindeers驯鹿 and loaded with装满 presents.Stopping on the roofof houses,he enters by climbing the chimney烟囱.When small children go to bed on Christmas Eve,they hang a stocking at the end of their beds.Their parents warn them not to try to look at FatherChristmas,or he will not leave them anything. When they wake, they find their stockings filled with presents.Children are very excited on Christmas morning and always wake up early.

Christmas is also a family celebration. As any members of the family as possible gather to eat, play party games and watch the special Christmas programmes on TV.

Good morning. On this Christmas Eve, Laura and I send our best wishes to families across America as you gather in your homes to celebrate the holiday. Christmas is a time of joy and peace, and we hope the holiday season brings all of you happy reunions with families and friends, and time to rest and reflect as you look forward to a new year. At Christmas, we give thanks for thegift of the birth of Christ, and for the blessings that surround us every day of the year.

In this great and prosperous land, we have so much to be thankful for, and Christmas reminds us of our obligation to share these blessings with others. There are many among us who are hurtingand require a helping hand. In the new year, I hope Americans will look for ways to volunteer your time and talents where they are needed most. By reaching out to a neighbor in need, we makeour nation a more just and compassionate place.

This Christmas, we remember our fellow citizens who suffered from the hurricanes and other disasters that struck our nation this past year. We pray for their strength as they continue torecover and rebuild their lives and their communities.

During the holiday season and throughout the year, we think with pride of the men and women of our Armed Forces, who are keeping our nation safe and defending freedom around the world.

In Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, they are protecting our liberty by spreading liberty to others, and all Americans are grateful to our troops for their courage and commitment.

We re also grateful to their families. Staying behind when a family member goes to war is a heavy burden -- and it s particularly hard at Christmas. We pray for our military families; we askAlmighty God to bestow His protection and care on their loved ones as they protect our nation from grave dangers.

We also remember the heroic men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation s freedom. We pray that God will comfort the loved ones they left behind. The sacrifices of thesebrave troops have rescued millions from lives of tyranny and sorrow, and made America more secure. We will always cherish the memory of each of our fallen servicemen and women, and count it aprivilege to be citizens of the country they served.

The times we live in have brought many challenges to our country. And at such times, the story of Christmas brings special comfort and confidence. Christmas reminds us that we can trust inGod s promise of peace on Earth and goodwill toward men. On a night more than 2,000 years ago, an angel of the Lord brought good tidings of great joy: the God of Heaven had come to Earth, andHe would be with us always.

Thank you for listening, and Merry Christmas.

The name Christmas is short for“Christ’s Mass”.A Mass is a kind of Church service.Christmas is a religious festivaI.It is the day we celebrate as the birthday of Jesus.

There are special Christmas services in Christian churches all over the world. But many of the festivities of Christmas do not have anything to do with religion.Exchanging gifts and sendingChristmas cards are the modern ways of celebrating the Christmas In the world.

The birth of Jesus had a story:In Nazareth,a city of Galilee. The vIrgin’s name was Mary was betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together, she was found with child of the HolySpirit.Joseph, her husband was minded to put her away secretly. While he thought about these things,Gabriel,an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a

dream and told hIm did not be afraid to take Mary as wife. And Mary, will bring forth a Son,and he shall call his name,Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Before Jesus births.Joseph and Mary came to Quintus was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.Joseph also went up out of Galilee.out of the city ofNazareth.into Judea,to the city of David.which iS called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David,to be registered with Mary。his betrothed wife, who was with child. So itwas that while they were there.the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son.and wrapped him in swaddling cloths.and laid him in a manger.because therewas no room for them jn the jnn.And that.Christmas IS the feast of the nativity of Jesus.is on 25th,December every year.

But nobody know the acluaI birthday of Jesus. And the Christmas has become popular when Christmas cards appeared in 1 846 and the concept of a joily Santa Claus was first made popular innineteenth Century.
